Ryan Griffen is an important piece of the Western Bulldogs rebuilding process.

A superb midfielder who has progressed via the NAB AFL Rising Stars Program, Griffen's ball winning attributes should excite Bulldogs fans in coming seasons.

An AIS-AFL Academy graduate, Griffen captained South Australia at the 2004 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, where he won All-Australian honours. He was selected with pick 3 at that year's NAB AFL Draft.

Griffen lived up to his pedigree in his debut year with the Bulldogs, playing in both attacking and defensive roles.

Displaying pace, skill and uncanny awareness, Griffen finished runner-up in the NAB AFL Rising Star and announced himself as a player to watch.

His second season saw Griffen make further waves, helping the Bulldogs make a surge towards September once again.

With two years of AFL under his belt, Griffen looks primed to step into a permanent place in midfield.
